Ew! Gore cooties! Somebody fumigate so Drilly McOilGlug doesn’t get a whiff of environmental friendliness… or an education:

The customary copy of “An Inconvenient Truth” was conveniently missing from Palin’s room at the eco-friendly Gaia Shasta Hotel & Spa, where she and her daughter freshened up before Palin’s sold-out appearances at the recent Sierra Cascade Logging Conference in Redding.

“We were under strict instructions” to make sure the Gore books were removed from rooms used by Palin and other conference VIPs, a hotel staffer told me last night.

No kidding. Seems, despite her protests to the contrary, she really does ban books after all.

So, yes, she’s that insulated, that closed-minded, and that disconnected from reality.

Well, at least the next time someone asks her what she reads, she can tell them, um, what she doesn’t read.

This strikes me as all of a piece with the news a couple of years ago that Shooter's advance people had hotels turn every television that VP Toad-In-The-Hole might see to Fox News.

It's a way of convincing one's self that one's views are dominant and without challenge, simply by denying that opposition exists.

It's a trick of the mind that reactionaries have fully mastered. :)

I myself am getting sick and tired of these trolls. At least, Paddy and you, Laffy, keep things under control, which is what I like about this website. I wished that some other websites (like Gamasutra) kept people more on the line and took care of the troll problem.

Thanks Steve. It's a pain, but I do it when we have an infantile reader who feels it necessary to needle others.

Unfortunately, it slows the comments down, but that's life.

Once we move to our new site (hopefully next week), we can report spam and eliminate them more quickly.

Walt, I would love to see every troll be swatted down by readers, but many of our regulars appreciate the less combative nature of our comments.

I do too.

That said, I do allow any comment that is civil, not baiting, and not from a known troll.

That way you can still have a discussion, but it doesn't have to get nasty. See? : )

He's scum and is only here to bait with talking points and nasty comments.

Although I have to admit, he's so much fun to delete, and he gives us so many hits.

Laffy, I understand and respect your policy but I would love to smack down these trolls. They carry so much hypocrisy that they are unaware of which makes them such easy prey. Like a cat playing with a mouse as a toy before promptly eating it... that it what I like doing with these ignorant trolls. And you know I am not talking about those who come in here for meaningful debate.
